Nearly 50 New Vehicles Bound for 2012 LA Auto Show


At least 24 world premieres and 25 North American premieres are confirmed for this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show with world firsts coming from Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, BMW, Fiat, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volkswagen.

Asian automakers will also be present with global unveilings from Acura, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan,Subaru, and Toyota. Most noticeable for this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show is the theme of green with over two dozen all-electric or plug-in electric vehicles on the show floor and at least a dozen clean-diesel vehicles. Nearly 20 vehicles present will be boasting 40-plug mpg ratings thanks to highly-advanced four-cylinder engines.
World debuts include the 2013 Acura RLX sedan, the North American debut of the BMW i8 Spyder, the Jaguar F-Type convertible, and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series. All three European automakers also have undisclosed debuts, joining Porsche with a rumored world premiere that has yet to be formally announced. Porsche will also be showing off its 911 Carrera 4, which will make its North American debut.
As for economy cars, Fiat will be debuting its 500e in America along with its five-passenger 500L, while General Motors will show off its Spark EV. Honda will also debut its new Accord plug-in hybrid.
Volkswagen will be making the world debut of its expected 2013 Beetle convertible while the Mazda6 will make an appearance in America for its first time. Mitsubishi will be showing its 2014 Outlander for the first time on American soil while Hyundai will debut a longer, seven-passenger version of its Santa Fe.
