Mazda May be Mulling Premium Mini Car

The minicar segment is growing — a fact that might be tempting Mazda to throw its hat in the ring.
Details on the project are foggy at best, but the car would rival other European A-segment cars like those from MINI. In 2008, the brand debuted its Kiyora concept (seen above), which was aimed at the same market.
While that car didn’t make it through, demand for city cars only grew over the last four years making the prospect that much more appealing.
Mazda research and development vice president Ichiro Hirose told AutoCar that the vehicle could be launched in the next two to three years. While that isn’t much to go on, one thing is for sure: it won’t look like the car pictured here. Instead, it is likely to be styled closely to the new Mazda6.
